THE SIXTH ANNUAL BRAVO BUSINESS AWARDS[TM].


High-profile event honors innovative executives and leaders

To thundering applause, the winners of LATIN TRADE Latin Trade is a monthly magazine covering global business in Latin America and the Caribbean. Similar to Forbes and Fortune Magazine in coverage, the magazine was founded in 1993 and now publishes 87,000 copies 1 each month in Spanish, Portuguese, and English.  Magazine's sixth annual Bravo Business Awards accepted accolades for their achievements and contributions to Latin American society and business.

More than 350 top executives gathered Oct. 27 to honor the winners at a black-tie gala at the Biltmore Hotel Biltmore Hotel is the name of a hotel chain created by hotel magnate John McEntee Bowman.

The name evokes the Vanderbilt family's Biltmore Estate, whose buildings and gardens within are privately owned historical landmarks and tourist attractions in Asheville, North
 in Coral Gables Coral Gables, city (1990 pop. 40,091), Miami-Dade co., SE Fla., SW of Miami; inc. 1925. Founded at the height of the Florida land boom, Coral Gables is a noted planned city, with tree-lined boulevards and Mediterranean-style buildings. . Earlier in the day, the audience of decision-makers participated in a round-table discussion on the digital divide and the impact of technology on Latin America.

It was the largest group of business executives ever for the high-profile Bravo event, which receives attention from the world press, the public and Latin America's business community and represents a unique opportunity for business leaders to meet each other. Six winners came from around the Americas and accepted their honors in person.

The winners are nominated by LATIN TRADE readers from around the globe, with input from top international executives, government officials and scholars. LATIN TRADE makes the final selections.

Honored this year were the following:

* Trade Leader of the Year: Leone I Fernandez Reyna, former president of the Dominican Republic, who led his nation to the best four-year economic performance in the region. Economic growth averaged 6.7% a year since 1996.

* Most Innovative Policy-Maker: Herminio Blanco Mendoza Herminio Alonso Blanco Mendoza (b. July 25, 1950 in Chihuahua) is a Mexican economist. He was the chief Mexican negotiator of the North American Free Trade Agreement and served as Secretary of Commerce and Industry in the cabinet of President Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de León. , secretary of trade and industrial development for the federal government of Mexico.

* Most Influential Financier: Susan L. Segal, general partner of Chase Capital Partners, which funded StarMedia and Patagon.com.

* Most Innovative Executive: Lorenzo H. Zambrano, chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Cemex.

* Internet Executive of the Year: Fernando Espuelas, chairman and CEO of StarMedia Network.

* Environmentalist environmentalist

a person with an interest and knowledge about the interaction of humans and animals with the environment.
 of the Year: John Michael Forgach, president and CEO of A2R A2R Ag2r Prevoyance (Tour de France cycling sponsor)  Fundos Ambientais.

* Humanitarian of the Year: Rodrigo Baggio, founder and executive director of the Comite para Democratizacao da Informatica.
