A longtime fixture on the Los Angeles journalism scene, he is best known for his years with The Hollywood Reporter. on TV While a lot of people make a case for "Homicide: Life on the Street," "ER" and "Chicago Hope" being TV's finest drama, I still vote for "NYPD Blue," which has the most vivid characters and consistently delivers the most powerful stories. Detective Russell (Kim Delaney) - better-known as the squeeze of Bobby Simone (Jimmy Smits) - suffers a family crisis when her abusive father turns up dead and her brother confesses to the killing. The complex plot is riveting and entirely believable. It also allows Delaney to flex her acting muscles. Just a typical Tuesday at the 15th Precinct.
