THE SCREEN\"NYPD Blue".

Byline: Ray Richmond Ray Richmond (born October 19, 1957) is a globally syndicated critic and entertainment/media columnist. A longtime fixture on the Los Angeles journalism scene, he is best known for his years with The Hollywood Reporter.  on TV

While a lot of people make a case for "Homicide: Life on the Street," "ER" and "Chicago Hope" being TV's finest drama, I still vote for "NYPD Blue," which has the most vivid characters and consistently delivers the most powerful stories. Tonight provides a perfect example. Detective Russell (Kim Delaney) - better-known as the squeeze of Bobby Simone (Jimmy Smits) - suffers a family crisis when her abusive father turns up dead and her brother confesses to the killing. The complex plot is riveting and entirely believable. It also allows Delaney to flex her acting muscles. Just a typical Tuesday at the 15th Precinct.

"Co-Ed Call Girl"

My oh my, where to begin? You don't actually watch a movie as deliriously dreadful as "Co-Ed Call Girl" - you merely survive it. It stars Tori Spelling as a naive college student seduced by quick money and the fawning fawn 1

and even murder. Worse still, she is forced to wear outfits that make her look like a package of Toll House cookie dough (with sprinkles). Spelling is entirely unconvincing as anything other than a bad actress, and it's difficult to envision her as anyone's fantasy woman. The movie evidently is supposed to be a cautionary tale about why prostitution is bad for you (who knew?), but it's so tackily produced and inanely in·ane
