THE ROXBURGH AGENCY INC. SPONSORS POST-ELECTION 1993 FORECAST
COSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- President-elect Bill Clinton had barely finished his acceptance speech when Orange County's top real-estate industry leaders began responding to a post- election 1993 forecast survey sponsored by The Roxburgh Agency Inc., one of Orange County's largest advertising and public relations firms.
Designed to gauge the reaction from building industry executives to the election's outcome, as well as their outlook on business prospects for the coming year, the nearly 30 individuals surveyed formed the basis of a detailed analysis and forecast article that appeared just one week after the election in the business section of the Los Angeles Times Orange County Edition.
While the responses varied tremendously, a consensus developed on several key points.
A majority of the executives, for example, agreed that Clinton's election will give consumer confidence a much-needed immediate boost. Gordon Tippell, president of Taylor Woodrow Homes, commented, "Now that the election is over, consumer confidence will improve and consumers will begin to make the choices and decisions they once put aside." Kathryn G. Thompson, president of Kathryn G. Thompson Development Co., stated, "Real estate will get a small boost immediately because of change. Change is positive and promotes a positive feeling among consumers." Tom Roddel, director of sales and marketing at Morrison Homes, echoed these sentiments, adding, "I believe that President Clinton will take a more conservative approach than what he did during the campaign as to how to deal with the economy. I sense a coming together of the American people to face and conquer the economic challenges."
Most of those surveyed also agreed that the economic recovery they forsee will be gradual. Tom Martin, vice president of marketing and sales for Coto De Caza Ltd., observed, "The 1993 new-home marketplace should be a lot like 1992. ... However, it will be a year of repositioning, looking forward to a return to the (healthy) market by mid-1994 to early 1995." Marc Simmons, director of marketing and sales for The VED Corp., noted, "We LALOG1 EH 0000 Summary of Southern California Copy xxxxx + N/C (N/C) 07 30 32 .7.6./scprn,sandi r f bc-So-Calif-summary P2 % TO EDITOR:
