Wood is no amateur crier. Last year he was named champion of a town crier competition in England. After visiting L.A. a couple of years ago, he noticed that the still-seedy Hollywood scene could stand a good crier. So he approached the Hollywood Entertainment District, a Business Improvement District that comprises 212 property owners.

"The thing I like about Michael is he is an authentic town crier. That's what Hollywood is about. We are the authentic place as opposed to replicas built in Anaheim or Orlando," said Kerry Morrison, executive director of the Hollywood Entertainment District.
