The Palmdale Pony League The Pennsylvania-Ontario-New York League, also known as the PONY League, was a Class D minor league baseball circuit that played from 1939 through 1956. The forerunner of the modern Class A New York - Penn League, the PONY served as the first professional baseball address of , whose summer teams usually contain about 400 youngsters ages 5 to 14, will host its final tryout and registration session Jan. 29.

The Jan. 29 session will be 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the league fields on 20th Street East south of Palmdale Boulevard.

Registration fees range from $55 to $100, depending on players' ages, plus a refundable Refundable

Eligible for refunding under the terms of a bond indenture.

(6 -- color) Dozens of youngsters fielded balls and swung bats Saturday in tryouts for the Palmdale Pony pony, small horse, officially any horse under 14.2 hands (58 in./145 cm) high. Most ponies are of Celtic origin. They are noted for their extreme hardiness and gentle natures. Some ponies are only 26 in. (65 cm) high. See Shetland pony; Welsh pony.  League's summer season.
