THE RIDES KEEP COMING FOR NEWHALL'S PURSLEY.

You won't find Greg Pursley's name among Irwindale Speedway's top 10 in the NASCAR NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing), organization that sanctions American stock-car races, est. 1948. It held its first race in Daytona Beach, Fla.  Super Late Model divisional series.

That's OK with the Newhall resident, who also competes in the NASCAR Featherlite Southwest touring series.

 to move up, and that takes seat time,'' Pursley said. ``Hopefully, I can continue to work up in my career. I like to move up to NASCAR Winston West, or maybe a NASCAR Truck- or Busch series The NASCAR Busch Series is a stock car racing series owned and operated by NASCAR. It is NASCAR's "minor league" circuit (often compared to Triple-A baseball), and is a proving ground for drivers who wish to step up to the organization's "big league" circuit, the Nextel Cup.  ride.

``I race at other tracks too. I'm just trying to get as much seat time as I can and learn.''

And know one is doubting that Pursley will succeed in attaining his goal.

, he's won six times in the NASCAR Super Late Model division, although two of his victories were later overtuned in a post-race inspection.

Pursley also won the NASCAR Southwest Series 100-lap race in May.

``We're pretty happy with our season,'' Pursley said. ``This is my first year with the team and we're working real well together, so we're pretty happy with the wins here.''

``It went very well,'' Pursley said. ``We had a tire problem, but got our lap back and ended up 10th. So we're pretty happy with that.
