 VICE PRESIDENT-OPERATIONS
 PLEASANTVILLE, N.Y., Oct. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Bruce G. Koe, 48, has been named vice president-operations at the Reader's Digest Association, Inc., effective Oct. 19.
 Koe will report to James P. Schadt, president and chief operating officer. He will have global responsibility for production operations of the company's magazine, book, music and video products. He replaces Melvin T. Williams, who retired June 30.
 Since 1990, Koe has been with Western Publishing Co., Inc., a book publishing and printing enterprise in Racine, Wis. He was vice president for the diversified products group serving the publishing, catalog, consumer food, restaurant, computer and software industries. From 1986 to 1990, Koe was with Banta Corporation, a printing and graphics services company where he served as executive vice president of the Catalog and Commercial Group, directing sales, marketing and customer service efforts for a two-plant $125 million printing operation in Minnesota.
 "Koe's extensive knowledge of the printing industry, and his general management experience will be invaluable to us as we continue to strengthen our global production operations," Schadt said.
 Koe spent the first 18 years of his career at Hallmark Cards, Inc. in Kansas City, Mo., in a variety of production management positions, including production control, color separation finishing and graphic arts engineering. In his last position as director of corporate development, he managed all business and new venture development, including acquisitions, new technologies and licensing agreements.
 Koe received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Illinois in 1966 and his master's degree in industrial engineering at Kansas State University in 1968.
