Although the economic slowdown appears to persist, the company's intensive marketing efforts have improved second-quarter revenues over the first period. Furthermore, the second-quarter loss was improved greatly over the first quarter, helped in part by improved revenue and profit in June. Previous cost reductions have been successful in minimizing the losses, however certain fixed costs could not be eliminated or reduced enough to prevent losses from occurring.
Management continues to emphasize its marketing programs in existing areas and to develop a client base in new market areas. A new office has been opened in Charleston, W.Va., to accommodate new staff and active project work in the newly developed market area for Randers. Management feels that by maintaining its core strengths at each opero?ffice and expanding into new areas the company will be in a stronger position once the economy recovers.
With its continuing solid base of operation, focused on technology- related projects, environmental engineering and specialized equipment systems design, the company is well positioned to pursue its growth plans as a strong, single source, design/build firm for technology- related projects and systems.
