THE QUIZNO'S CORPORATION ANNOUNCES VP OF MARKETING; KICKS OFF NEW CHICKEN COMBO PROMOTION ON MARCH 14

DENVER, March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- To further its commitment to supporting franchisees both nationally and through local marketing, The QUIZNO'S Corporation (Nasdaq: QUIZ) appointed Bob Whitmore to the new position of vice president of marketing. A new QUIZNO'S meal combo introduction and extensive media campaign in Denver, Detroit and Colorado Springs will be Whitmore's first marketing effort.

Whitmore brings experience in retail marketing, national brand development and new product marketing from both the corporate and advertising agency arenas. He worked for McDonald's Corporation for 10 years in marketing. After serving in several regional marketing positions, he became manager of new products marketing at the corporate headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois. He developed McDonald's first national direct mail campaign and the company's first integrated media campaign for crew and manager recruitment.

"Bob's background in new product marketing, event marketing and brand positioning will help him focus on innovative sales building programs at the local QUIZNO'S store level and help develop the QUIZNO'S brand name nationwide," Schaden said.

Whitmore is jumping in feet first with an extensive prime time television, cable and radio campaign scheduled to begin March 14 in Denver to introduce QUIZNO'S new Southwestern BBQ Chicken sandwich. The $1.99 Southwestern BBQ Chicken Meal Combo includes a small sandwich, 22 oz. drink and chips.

"We've developed a competitively priced meal combo that maintains the quality, oven-baked taste of QUIZNO'S Classic Subs but provides a great meal for value-driven customers," Whitmore said.

The aggressive media schedule, including a new 30 second TV spot and 60 second radio spot, will run in Denver through April 28. The promotion and media campaign is scheduled to kick off in the Detroit and Colorado Springs markets in April.

Whitmore's experience in new product promotions also includes five years of advertising agency management experience. Most recently as executive vice president at Finnegan & Agee Advertising in Richmond, Virginia, he managed a variety of retail accounts, including McDonald's, Busch Gardens and Stihl Power Equipment. Earlier, Whitmore was zone marketing manager with Dunkin Donuts in the Mid-Atlantic area and sales promotion manager at Carling National Brewery in Baltimore.

QUIZNO'S, a quick-service Italian-style sub sandwich concept serving signature oven-baked Classic Subs, has been a popular Denver-based chain for 15 years. Currently, 112 restaurants are open in 19 states. The company successfully completed an IPO in February 1994. The QUIZNO'S Corporation is traded on the NASDAQ stock exchange under the symbol: QUIZ.
