THE QUEEN OF CRUNK HIP-HOP PHENOM CIARA HEADS INTO WANGO TANGO WITH A STRING OF HITS AND A WINNING ATTITUDE.

Byline: Fred Shuster Music Writer

The r&b singer Ciara is having a year as sweet as the popular Revlon perfume she was named for. Being 19, having talent and knowing all the right people is paying off.

know her name, you've undoubtedly heard Ciara's breakout smash, ``Goodies,'' thundering from outrageously obnoxious SUV sound systems in the next lane. Produced by the hip and hot Lil Jon and co-written with one of Usher's A-team songwriters, the taunting girls'-night-out anthem topped the charts for weeks with its message of ``you're never gonna get near this.''

The rising star then segued into the Missy Elliot-assisted ``One, Two Step,'' which followed ``Goodies'' onto the nation's dance floors, positioning Ciara under the banner of crunk - the high-energy hip-hop genre born in the singer's Atlanta hometown.

``It's dance music,'' Ciara said the other morning from her gym. ``There's no denying what it does to people. It points them towards the dance floor and gets them moving.''

Tens of thousands will get moving Saturday when Ciara appears at Wango Tango Wango Tango is an annual day-long concert produced on by KIIS-FM [1] radio station in Los Angeles. The concert series has been staged at various venues around southern California including Doger Stadium, the Rose Bowl and Angels Stadium in Anaheim. , the yearly KIIS-FM (102.7) event, also starring Gwen Stefani, Jennifer Lopez, Will Smith, Kelly Clarkson Kelly Brianne Clarkson (born April 24 1982) is an American pop rock singer. ``We choose who's popular of the acts we play on the air,'' explained John Ivey, vice president of programming at KIIS KIIS Kansai Institute of Information Systems . ``We're a Top 40 station, so that means a little of everything. There are some acts this year, like Lindsay Lohan and J.Lo, who don't perform on stage a lot, and we have the Backstreet Boys' first major appearance in years. So, they give the show a lot of heat.''

Best to arrive early for the massive all-dayer in which every KIIS on-air personality and a flock of teen actors will show up between performance slots. ``American Idol's'' Ryan Seacrest Ryan Seacrest (born December 24, 1974) is an American radio and television personality. ``I had no idea it was gonna be so big,'' Ciara said when told of the size of the 45,000-seat concert, but she didn't seem overly concerned.

It's confidence that comes with a career that's well past the launching pad. The first new artist in recent memory to have three straight top-two songs on Billboard's Hot 100 Airplay air·play

chart, Ciara has just seen her newest workout, ``Oh,'' featuring Ludacris, soar into the No. 1 slot, the same position held by her ``Goodies'' disc on the albums list. The new single is a love song to her city and its signature style.

``People don't realize the work that goes into this,'' the singer-dancer said. ``They think you just get up there and perform or you go into the studio and record a vocal one time through. They don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)

Dubbed ``the first lady of crunk'' by Lil Jon, whom Ciara met through LaFace Records chief L.A. Reid, she credits teamwork for her perfume- scented success. And she really enjoys the spotlight.

``I'm very, very careful about what I do in public,'' she says. ``That just comes with the job. You learn how to be in the public eye. But I don't miss my life before all this. I'm so happy anytime anyone wants my autograph.''
