THE QUARTERLY NEW PRODUCT TABLOID FOR THE RUBBER INDUSTRY.

Rubber size reduction

The Vulcanator features a novel low friction cutter design which is said to quickly reduce whole bales of rubber into small bits without heat rise. Rugged rotary knives pull the material into the cutting area and disintegrate the slabs to a size fine enough to pass through a special sizing screen. The reduced particles are then expelled from the bottom of the unit. The Vulcanator is built for heavy duty operation. The housing is constructed of heavy steel plate. A high level of precision is said to be incorporated into every component. (Franklin Miller, 60 Okner Pkwy., Livingston, NJ 07039)

Wall Chart

Manufacturers are said to have relied on the performance of Chemlok rubber-to-metal adhesives since 1956. To showcase the line of products and provide specific information on each Chemlok adhesive, the company has produced a useful, colorful wall chart for easy reference. Chemlok adhesives are said to be found virtually anywhere one finds rubber bonded to metal, according to the literature. The Chemlok product guide is said to serve as a valuable resource, cross-referencing each product with its proper use, providing recommendations for environmental conditions and listing the typical properties of Chemlok adhesives and primers. The Chemlok application guide and selector guide are also available to customers for in-depth information on the use and performance of Chemlok adhesives. A recent addition to the Chemlok line is Chemlok 213D castable urethane to metal adhesive, which is applied right out of the can. (Lord, 2000 W. Grandview Blvd. Erie, PA. 16514

Releases

This supplier of specialized release agents has developed a corporate brochure. The eight-page brochure details the company's global capabilities, including its ability to custom formulate products for specific customer needs in the rubber, composite, roto molding and tire industries. It also includes details of the company's world standard Pura line of polyurethane releasants, as well as its Mono-Coat line, which is said to be the global standard for semi-permanent release agents. According to the literature, the company has captured the entire chemical specialty process, from research and development, to testing and analysis, to production and just-in-time delivery. Also described are Safety-Lube die lubricants and Mono-Lube tire releasants. A comprehensive range of highly engineered custom formulations is also available. (Chem-Trend, 1445 W. McPherson Park Dr., P.O. Box 860, Howell, MI 48843)

Automated bulk coating machinery

The R-200 PC coating machine is now totally programmable, allowing for absolute coating consistency and more efficient operation, according to the company. The automated control panel is said to significantly increase production and profits. For instance, the R-200 PC dip spin machine is said to easily coat 11,000 pounds of standard fasteners in an eight hour day with just one operator, accounting for 50% greater capacity than the manually run R-200 when using one operator. Also, the automated operation is completely hands off from the moment the basket is locked in place until the cycle is finished. The R-200 PC allows users to bulk coat with solid film lubricants, lacquers, enamels, waxes, liquid lubricants and adhesives to exact specifications by storing 16 different timed dip-spin procedures. The machine's all explosive-proof electric drive motor is said to achieve instantaneous basket speed to insure minimal head fill, a problem associated with air or hydraulic drive motors. (P. Ronci Machine, 99 Jefferson Blvd., Warwick, RI 02888)

Additives

"The chemistry and practical use of antidegradants" is the title of the company's technical report. The publication contains performance and economic comparisons of well-known (and not so well-known) products, plus application alternatives that can be significant to a company's bottom line. This report is said to be intelligently organized and presents a compilation of recent research and valuable data for reference. The company's technical department presents new information of relevance to rubber compound antidegradant systems. In addition to a line of antidegradants, the company is said to provide comprehensive technical support and services. Several classes of antioxidants are considered in the report.
