From The Santa Fe New Mexican:

December 19, 1908: Beatrice Seligman recited "The Kitten's Christmas" in the fourth grade Christmas exercises at the Second Ward School this afternoon. Individual recitations in the third grade were given by Ada Rodriguez, Nellie Gann and Mabel Roberts.

December 19, 1983: Alamogordo -- The president of the school board wants to lengthen the school day and shorten the school year to save on summer cooling costs. The longer vacation would result in a savings of more than $21,300.
