THE ORCHID; Poem by Sharron Murgatroyd.

Byline: Sharron Murgatroyd

Never again will we see the like

The big handsome grey

In full flight.

Parading around the paddock

With head held high,

You were personified grace,

Your beloved Janice so proud

Always by your side.

Heart pounding with every stride

As she watched you soaring

Through the sky.

From flag fall you dictated the race

Jockey holding on

It was you who set the pace!

Ascot, Kempton, Cheltenham

Like a film star you'd come,

To take centre stage

In awe we watched

Majestically you won.

Never again will we see the like

Desert Orchid

In full flight.
