THE NEW MUSIC EXPLOSION

 THE NEW MUSIC EXPLOSION
ST. LOUIS, March 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Booming out of the obscurity of

St. Louis, the Gateway City, comes the most powerful black music explosion since the 60s. Darris Record Company has developed into the hottest independent black record label among the grass root black music lovers of today. It was founded by a young musical genius, Edmund Chester Darris.
A product of the Pruitt-Igoe Housing Project, Darris realized his desire as a young boy and has become a super producer, songwriter and virtuoso musician. He has gathered St. Louis talent, produced them and come up with musical products that have grossed over $120,000 in one year from record and cassette sales, on the streets and through mail order, with no radio air play or major label distribution.
When asked about the success of Darris Records, he responded by saying, "We are the best because we make ourselves the best. Our music is superior, our artists are well disciplined and our music production quality is of the highest standards. We do not believe in categorizing music with titles such as R&B, Pop, etc. To Darris Records, there is only great music, great songs and great artists, and that is what motivates our fans to buy our music."
Darris Records will release a 14-song CD compilation and cassette featuring ballads, dance, house, rap and African music. It will be available April 12, 1992. This collection features Kola, a sultry, young singer-songwriter; balladeer Stacey-C; soulful rapper Tutti T; the melodious voice of Douglas Mosely I; the silky soul singer Garret G-Man; and Dee Dee's Boys, some hard-core East St. Louisans singing the title cut, "Sweet Black Woman."
Edmund Darris is a young entrepreneur concerned with making a positive contribution to the young black generation by showing them that the concentration of mind power is the true drug of the 90s. He encourages all young blacks to get high on knowledge and not on drugs.
