THE NEW AEROPERU TAKES OFF

LIMA, Peru, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Jack M. Miles, director of Aeroperu's executive committee, advised today of the airline's plans to emerge from privatization and to undertake fleet and service renovation.
Aeroperu, as a result of its recent acquisition by a group headed by Aeromexico and Peruvian investors, is expected to follow in Aeromexico's footsteps which made it one of the greatest success stories of privatization in Latin America.
Aeroperu's renovated fleet will consist of DC-10 and Super 727-200 aircraft. Two DC-10s will be the mainstay of Aeroperu's flights between Lima and Miami and Lima and Mexico City. The Boeing 727-200 aircraft will be used in the shorter flights between Lima and the main cities throughout Latin America. Some of the through service to Santiago, Chile and Buenos Aires, Argentina from Lima is also planned on the wide bodied aircraft.
"Aeroperu is in full transition, and with the anticipated cooperation of its highly trained personnel, will continue to strive for improvements in service both on the ground and in the air," stated Miles. The first DC-10 flight between Lima and Miami will be on July 1.
