NEWHALL - Damion Morbley, a transfer from Cal State Northridge, scored 20 points and led a tenacious offensive-rebounding effort to lift visiting Vanguard University past The Master's College History

Vanguard (7-8, 3-3) outrebounded the Mustangs (11-3, 3-2) only 40-34. But the Lions grabbed three offensive rebounds, the last by Morbley with 22 seconds left, in the last 1:33.

``We got gypped on the boards,'' said guard Brandee Jones, who led all scorers with 30. ``We just need to work harder. We're still learning, but there's stuff that we need to execute.''

Despite the failure to block out in the closing seconds, clutch shots by Jones and Brett DeVries forced the Lions to make free throws. Moorpark High product Shawn Corkery hit two with five seconds left and DeVries' 3-pointer bounced off the rim at the buzzer.
