THE IRVINE CO. MUST PAY $5 MILLION MORE TO UNITED LEISURE CORP.
IRVINE, Calif., Nov. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- United Leisure Corp. ("OTC") today announced that the Orange County Superior Court jury had awarded an additional $5 million in punitive damages to its wholly owned subsidiary, Lion Country Safari Inc. -- California, in its litigation with The Irvine Co. This is in addition to the $40 million plus verdict which was awarded in this litigation, announced yesterday. The litigation, which was originally joined in 1987, involved a $2 million claim for rent by The Irvine Co. and a counterclaim by United Leisure Corp.'s subsidiary that The Irvine Co. had interfered with its efforts to effectively develop its leasehold interest in a 300-acre tract of land located at Irvine, which it leased from The Irvine Co. in 1969. All positions advanced by company were found against The Irvine Co. As a result of a post-judgment motion brought by The Irvine Co., a final judgment in the trial is not expected until early December 1993. -0- 11/10/93 /CONTACT: Harry Shuster or Renate Graf, United Leisure, 714-837-1200/
