Two recent books pay tribute to stones - both as pillars of strength and objects of art. ``In the Company of Stone: The Art of the Stone Wall'' (Artisan; $35) tells the story of a waller and his walls. Dan Snow builds walls of all shapes and sizes on the East Coast - all with dry stones. Together with photographer Peter Mauss, he has created a beautiful book worthy of any coffee table.
