THE HYPE GETTING AN 'EYE'-FUL BOOK IS ECLECTIC COLLECTION OF ONE MAN'S VISION.

What photographs would you collect if you could?

Most of us aren't in the position to buy what we like, but ``One Man's Eye'' (Abrams; $49.50) does reflect the taste of one man - Alan Siegel.

Throughout the years, he collected works by Diane Arbus, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Man Ray, Robert Mapplethorpe, Robert Adams, Ezra Stoller, Robert Frank, Irving Penn, Walker Evans, Erwin Blumenfeld and Edward Weston.

The 120 photos in this coffee-table book reflect Siegel's wide - and sometimes odd - range of interests. Inside are pictures of animal skulls by Penn, Marilyn Monroe's last nude session and smoke billowing bil·low

But all you have to do to realize Siegel eclectic taste is look at the cover photo - Edward Kelly's ``Congress of Freaks With Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey (combined) Circus.''

CAROLING, CAROLING: FROM WILLIAMS TO 'WEST WING':

Two very different Christmas programs air tonight. ``A Diva's Christmas Carol'' is an amiable goof on the Dickens classic, with Vanessa Williams amusingly tearing it up as a terror of a pop singer who makes the lives of her band and road crew miserable during the holidays - think Whitney Houston, only surrounded by a different kind of snow - until one fateful Christmas Eve. At the same time, ``The West Wing's'' Christmas episode is a far grimmer, more moving affair, with Josh (Bradley Whitfield) meeting with a therapist (Adam Arkin, still treating patients despite the cancelation can·ce·la·tion
