THE HYPE CAREY'ED AWAY DREW'S LIFE GETS MORE BIZARRE THAN HIS FANTASIES (IF THAT'S POSSILBE) AS SITCOM ENDS SEASON.

``The Drew Carey Drew Allison Carey (born May 23, 1958) is an American comedian, actor, and game show host. After serving in the U.S. Marines and making a name for himself in stand-up comedy, Carey eventually gained popularity starring on his own sitcom, The Drew Carey Show  Show'' used to be a pretty straightforward sitcom about a group of working-class stiffs who rely on their friendship and no small amount of beer to get by, with the occasional fantasy sequence. This season, the story lines have been more bizarre than the fantasy sequences - Drew went into a coma, where he hung out in a cushy cush·y
adj. cush·i·er, cush·i·est Informal
Making few demands; comfortable: a cushy job.

[Origin unknown.
bachelor pad A bachelor pad essentially means a house (pad) in which a bachelor or bachelors (single men) live. It should not be confused with a bachelor apartment, which is a zero bedroom apartment where the main room serves as a bedroom, living room and dining room (and sometimes  with a lot of babes and then ended up, briefly, as Mimi's baby. Since the plotting has gotten so bonkers, it's appropriate that the season ends with an hourlong episode with Drew literally losing his mind.

When Mr. Wick (Craig Ferguson) puts Drew in charge of a new women's clothing store, the pressure weighs heavily on him, but not as heavily as Mimi (Kathy Kinney), who embarks upon a systematic plot to drive him insane. Oswald (Diedrich Bader) and Lewis (Ryan Stiles Stiles can refer to: People
  • Bert Stiles, short story writer
  • Charles Wardell Stiles, American zoologist
  • Edgar Stiles, character on the popular drama 24
  • Ezra Stiles, president of Yale College
  • Innis Stiles, singer, musician
) locate Drew in a mental hospital and check in themselves; after a brief ``One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest'' homage, the entire ward escapes.

But life is not so simple for Drew.

If the show hasn't painted itself into a corner, it's come pretty close. The indulgent flights of fancy have begun to overwhelm the comedy, and what once was a pretty entertaining series has gotten lost in a morass of gimmicks. It still has enough sharp lines to remain funny, but it's best when it doesn't strive so desperately to be ``unique.'' ``The Drew Carey Show'' airs at 9 tonight on ABC ABC

It's tough to get too choked up about tonight's departure of ``Star Trek: Voyager,'' particularly since a new ``Trek'' series starring Scott Bakula has already been announced (oh, good! a new set of action figures!) before this one's had a chance to develop rigor mortis rigor mortis (rĭ`gər môr`tĭs), rigidity of the body that occurs after death. The onset may vary from about 10 min to several hours or more after death, depending on the condition of the body at death and on factors in the  (except, perhaps, creatively).

Nonetheless, after the requisite seven seasons, ``Voyager'' will bid us adieu. Tonight answers the question as to whether Capt. Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) and her crew ever get out of the Delta Quadrant and get back home. Actually, it answers it twice.

Yes, that's pretty murky, but this is the 35th year of ``Star Trek'' we're talking here, so they can't keep up this pretense of making sense forever. Actually, the plot involves time travel, the Borg, a cheesy cheesy (che´ze) caseous.  reunion before things have even been resolved, the Borg, the answer to the question which crew member gets to score with Seven of Nine (Jeri Ryan), the Borg and so on. At one point, the crew decides it enjoys hanging out together so much they don't really mind if they never get back to Earth.

Frankly, we agree with the second part of that equation, not so much with the first. What's the opposite of ``Live long and prosper?'' ``Star Trek: Voyager'' concludes at 8 tonight on UPN UPN User Principal Name (Microsoft Windows 2000)
