LOCATION: Central Middlesbrough, including the town centre and the Gresham area which is subject to major redevelopment.

MAKING THE NEWS: The doors have recently opened on mima's latest exhibitions. The gallery is showcasing work by sculptor Eric Bainbridge, plus you can see The Naked And The Nude: Works From The Tate Collection. The gallery is also searching for a new director after current post holder Godfrey Worsdale announced he will be moving to Tyneside's Baltic contemporary art gallery later this year.

Major development on the site of the former Middlesbrough police station is planned. J R Property Developments' scheme includes a hotel, office and multi-storey car park scheme.

A pounds 300m programme of projects over the next five years has been drawn up by Middlesbrough Council.

Investment in TS1 includes pounds 100,000 on Centre Square improvements and pounds 70,000 to introduce a residents parking scheme in the University Ward.
