THE DAY IN SPORTS: WAVES ROLL TO TWO TITLES HULL, PEPPERDINE BOTH FIRST AT SOCAL INTERCOLLEGIATE.


Katherine Hull and Lindsey Wright finished 1-2 to lead Pepperdine to the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. --Griffith Park finals: Ed Dorini defeated Chuck Conn in the match-play final of the three-round Griffith Park Griffith Park is a large public park at the eastern end of the Santa Monica Mountains. It is situated in the Los Feliz neighborhood of Los Angeles, California. The park covers 4,210 acres (17 km²) of land, making it one of the largest urban parks in North America.  Men's Club championship. Flight winners were Greg Greenwood (A), Jeff Tappert (B) and Steve Lichtscheidl.

In women's soccer:

--Raiders stay perfect: Julie Nilsen scored twice to lead visiting Moorpark College Moorpark College is a California-state funded community college located on a 134 acre (542,000 m²) property reclining on a hill in Moorpark, a town in Ventura County, California.  (5-0, 2-0) to a 2-0 win Western State Conference win over Bakersfield.

--Oh, brother! Brothers Danny and Matt Hoffenberg of Simi Valley wound up points leaders in their age groups of the Ventura County Junior Golf Association, and Danny was named the VCJGA's Player of the Year. Danny, now 15 and a freshman at Royal High of Simi Valley, won 11 VCJGA tournaments in 14-under division this year. Matt, 12, won 12 VCJGA events.

In girls' volleyball:

--Lions roar: Anne Marie Boskovich had 10 kills and 11 digs, Rachel Rubenstein had 19 assists and Rikki Hill 10 digs as Oaks Christian of Westlake Village swept host Cornerstone Christian of Camarillo 15-5, 15-5, 15-10 in nonleague play.

--Maximum Maxwell: Taryn Maxwell had 17 kills and eight digs to lead Alemany of Mission Hills (2-0) past Canyon 15-10, 15-8, 15-2.
