``I'm real excited,'' said Shields after choosing the Tigers on Tuesday. ``They have a great program. They've won four national championships in the '90s and are probably the best team of the '90s.''

A varsity starter since his sophomore season, Shields went 11-0 with three saves last year, pitching the section-title win in relief to finish the season with a 2.35 ERA and 123 strikeouts in 71 innings INNINGS, estates. Highlanders hit 50: Granada Hills (9-0, 6-0) ran its West Valley League win streak to 50 matches Tuesday with a 7-0 win over Cleveland, which entered the competition with a chance to tie the Highlanders for first place. Granada Hills, ranked No. 6 by the Daily News, won 56 of 68 points against the Cavaliers (7-2, 4-2), the Highlanders' No. 1 team of Caryn Linder and Shannon Slotnick leading a 24-2 showing in doubles.
