Perhaps the biggest shock of the day was Sylmar (7-1, 3-0) beating the highly touted Ennis with a big performance by Ivan Hernandez. Hernandez struck out 13 and walked four to improve to 4-0. The teams were tied going into the seventh when catcher Mario Pacheco untied it with a two-run triple. Pacheco also scored to give the Spartans their final run.
