THE DAY IN PREPS: NOTRE DAME GOLFERS CLINCH TEAM BERTH.

Tommy Barber and freshman Nikki Amaromna of Notre Dame Notre Dame IPA: [nɔtʁ dam] is French for Our Lady, referring to the Virgin Mary. In the United States of America, Notre Dame  both shot 2-over-par 74 Wednesday at Wilson Golf Course as coach John Skeese's Knights finished second in the Mission League golf tournament to clinch a berth in the Southern Section team playoffs.

The Knights will join league champion Loyola and Nos. 3-4 league finishers Harvard-Westlake and St. Francis in Monday's West Regional at L.A. Royal Vista GC, where the top three teams advance to Thursday's section final at La Purisima GC in Lompoc.

Dan Gutenplan of Loyola shot 73 to lead the individual competition. He joins Cubs teammates Ryo Yamada, Brendan Hutchinson, John Hutchinson, John See under Hutchinson Family, The.  Callaghan and Kevin Bric along with nine others in today's final round at Harding GC.
