THE DAY IN PREPS: CANYON PUTS IT ALL TOGETHER VS. SAUGUS.

Byline: Daily News

Everything fell into place for the Canyon High boys' basketball team on Friday - the front line dominated the paint and the backcourt shot the lights out - in a 53-36 Foothill League victory over host Saugus.

Canyon's Everett Bryson (nine points, 11 rebounds) and Jacyn Ezell (eight points, six rebounds, four steals) provided numerous second opportunities which the Cowboys' guards gladly took advantage of with 3-pointers.

had four 3-pointers and Anthony Falasca (17 points) had three. As Canyon (10-8, 3-0) stretched Saugus' defense, it extended its lead over the last three quarters.

The Cowboys' defense held the Centurions (8-10, 0-3) to 18 points for the final three quarters after they scored 18 in the first.

``It's something we've worked on the last couple of days,'' Canyon coach Dave Humphreys said of the 3-pointer. ``It was how we wanted to attack their match-up zone.

``When they collapsed, our post players found the right people.''

Nic Echevestre led Saugus with 13 points, six rebounds and two blocks, while Doug Summerhayes added five points and six assists.
