THE COCA-COLA COMPANY AND FEMSA FORMALIZE JOINT VENTURE AGREEMENT (d)

 ATLANTA, June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- The Coca-Cola Company (NYSE: KO) and Fomento Economico Mexicano, S.A. de C.V. (FEMSA) today announced the formation of a joint venture, Coca-Cola FEMSA S.A. de C.V. (Coca-Cola FEMSA), that will operate soft drink bottling operations in the Valley of Mexico and Mexico's southeast region.
 The agreement was signed Monday.
 Coca-Cola FEMSA is 70 percent owned by FEMSA and 30 percent owned by The Coca-Cola Company. Both companies will share in the management and strategic development of Coca-Cola FEMSA. The joint venture was announced at a news conference in Mexico City on April 26.
 The Coca-Cola Company is the world's largest soft drink company. Mexico is the largest market for Coca-Cola products outside of the United States, with more than 1 billion cases of Company products sold last year. More than half of all soft drinks sold in Mexico are Coca-Cola products.
 FEMSA is Mexico's largest beverage and packaging company. FEMSA holds the Coca-Cola franchise for the Valley of Mexico and southeast Mexico and has bottled Coca-Cola products since 1979. FEMSA also operates an extensive chain of Oxxo convenience stores throughout Mexico.
