THE CARMEL GROUP adds Blum to roster.

CARMEL-BY-THE-SEA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 1996-- Steve Blum, a 25 year veteran of the broadcasting and telecommunications industry is joining THE CARMEL GROUP and its parent company, Schaeffler Media Research Inc., as President, a principal and fifty percent owner.

He comes to THE CARMEL GROUP from U.S. Satellite Broadcasting, where, as an early member of the start-up team and Manager of Consumer Marketing, he played a key role in the development, launch and growth of the Digital Satellite System (DSS), North America's first high-powered DBS service and the most successful new product introduction in consumer electronics history.

Blum has served as Director of Marketing for Conus Communications, as a marketing consultant to companies in the U.S. and Japan, and as a radio news director. He has received a number of major awards, including the PRSA Silver Anvil and the Ellen B. Scripps Fellowship, and he serves on the board of directors of the Society of Satellite Professionals International. Blum holds an A.B. in History from the University of California, Berkeley, an M.A. in East Asia Studies from the University of Washington, and an M.B.A. from the University of St. Thomas.
