Lopez getting `Out of Sight' with Clooney: Jennifer Lopez has landed the plum starring role opposite George Clooney in ``Out of Sight.'' The film, which also stars Ving Rhames, will roll under the direction of Steven Soderbergh. In ``Out of Sight,'' based on an Elmore Leonard crime novel, Lopez will play a federal marshal taken hostage during a prison break. After she falls for one of the escapees (Clooney), she is asked to lead the manhunt to track him down. This year has been a big winner for Lopez, who won critical acclaim for her starring role in the biopic ``Selena'' and saw both that film and the horror flick ``Anaconda'' do well at the box office.

London calling Charles Sheen: Charles Sheen faced the press in Cannes on Sunday to announce the launch of his new film, ``Martin Eden,'' a $7.2 million production by first-time director David O'Neill, based on the literary classic by Jack London. Sheen - who insists that he no longer be called Charlie - will play a young sailor who marries into money and becomes a writer. The novel is based on London's life.

Reynolds back in `Zack': Debbie Reynolds has been set to star in ``Zack and Reba,'' joining previously announced cast members Sean Patrick Flanery and Brittany Murphy. Reynolds has been riding high in the wake of rave reviews for her role in Albert Brooks' ``Mother.'' ``Zack and Reba'' is described as a zany comic romance about two people who have vowed never to fall in love again, only to find they are made for each other. Reynolds plays the aunt of one of the two.

Binoche about to leap into `Lulu' project: Oscar winner Juliette Binoche is in final negotiations to star opposite Harvey Keitel in ``Lulu on the Bridge.'' ``Lulu'' is described as the story of a jazz saxophonist who is accidentally shot during a club performance. His journey to mental and physical recovery brings him in contact with a young actress who is playing Lulu in a modern-day remake of ``Pandora's Box.'' The film was written by Paul Auster, who also will direct. Auster was credited as co-director with Wayne Wang on ``Blue in the Face,'' and penned both that film and ``Smoke,'' which also starred Keitel.
