Outer Critics applaud: Following a season of divided riches, the revival ``The Iceman Iceman

Bourne Bourne, town (1990 pop. 16,064), Barnstable co., SE Mass., crossed by Cape Cod Canal; settled 1627, inc. 1884. Bourne Bridge (1935), across the canal, made the town an entry point to Cape Cod and a resort and commercial center.  won for best choreography and director of a musical for his radical reworking of ``Swan Lake Swan Lake (Russian: Лебединое Озеро, Lebedinoye Ozero, Swan Lake ,'' which also won for Lez Brotherston's costumes.

The Outer Critics Circle, an organization of theater writers for out-of-town and national publications, reserved its top awards for two shows centered on departed theater giants.

The dance revue ``Fosse'' won best Broadway musical, its sole award despite eight nominations, while the debut production of Tennessee Williams' ``Not About Nightingales'' won best Broadway play. Richard Hoover's scenic design for ``Nightingales'' was also honored.

Bernadette Peters won best musical actress for ``Annie Get Your Gun,'' which also took best musical revival. Ever-versatile Martin Short won best musical actor for ``Little Me.''

The group honored featured actors Claire Bloom of ``Electra'' and Kevin Anderson of ``Death of a Salesman'' - as well as Michel Bell of ``The Civil War'' and Kristin Chenoweth of ``You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown'' in the musical category. ``Civil War'' lighting designer Paul Gallo also won.

David Hare's ``Via Dolorosa'' took the award for best solo performance, while ``A New Brain'' claimed best off-Broadway musical.

Hopkins and Cruise: Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins, fresh off roles in ``The Mask of Zorro'' and ``Meet Joe Black,'' is set to star opposite Tom Cruise in ``Mission: Impossible 2.'' In the John Woo film, Hopkins will play Cruise's boss, a role that Ian McKellen had been in talks to take.

The sequel to 1996's ``Mission: Impossible'' is now shooting in Australia. Ving Rhames, Thandie Newton and Dougray Scott also star. Hopkins won a best actor Oscar for ``The Silence of the Lambs.'' He went on to receive Academy Award nominations for ``The Remains of the Day,'' ``Nixon'' and ``Amistad.''
