drama ``Boston Legal'' takes on the issue of alleged media bias in Sunday's episode, it doesn't name names - specifically Fox News Channel. In the original script, a high-school principal blocks Fox News from being aired on campus television sets because he considers the channel biased and inflammatory, according to the network. But ABC asked executive producer and writer David E. Kelley to remove references to Fox; instead, there is criticism of TV news in general and one network, which is unidentified, in particular. ``We did make some changes to the script per ABC's request, but managed to tell the same story in what we believe is an even more subversive and provocative way,'' Kelley spokeswoman Stacey Luchs said Thursday. The Emmy-winning ``Boston Legal'' stars James Spader and William Shatner. In Sunday's episode (10 p.m.), a student seeks an injunction against the TV ban enacted by his principal (Chi McBride, reprising the role he played on a past Kelley series, ``Boston Public''). ``Look, I know all the networks pander To pimp; to cater to the gratification of the lust of another.  Johnny Cash Visionary Award next month, just a few days before her 70th birthday. The award recognizes an artist's musical vision, innovative music videos and pioneering initiatives in entertainment. It was known as the Video Visionary Award but was renamed in honor of Cash last year. Lynn will be honored April 11 during the live broadcast of Country Music Television's 2005 Music Awards, hosted by comedian Jeff Foxworthy, from the Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, Tenn. She turns 70 on April 14. She won two Grammy Awards last month for her album ``Van Lear Rose,'' produced by Jack White of the White Stripes.

PERILS OF 'PAULEY': Staffers for ``The Jane Pauley Show'' were reportedly told Friday that the program has been canceled. The syndicated show, which premiered last August with great fanfare on NBC's owned- and-operated stations, will stop taping new episodes in mid-April. A mix of original episodes and repeats will air through the end of the season. Original episodes are slated for all of May sweeps.

In a statement, Pauley said, ``We started out with an enormous vote of confidence from our stations and have seen our audience grow steadily from November until now, but it came too late for too many to stick with us.'' ``Pauley,'' which had been touted as an afternoon competitor to ``The Oprah Winfrey Show'' and ``The Ellen DeGeneres Show,'' had been downgraded to poorer time slots in many markets. Though not a direct time-period trade, industry experts have said the upcoming Martha Stewart show would help the NBC stations replace any holes left by ``Pauley.''
