Party hearty with Ellen

Ellen DeGeneres describes herself as a party animal, but she says she doesn't get out and about nearly as much as she'd like to because of the demands of taping her talk show. ``I want to mix it up, I want to hang with my peeps, I want to RSVP (ReSerVation Protocol) A communications protocol that signals a router to reserve bandwidth for real time transmission. RSVP is designed to clear a path for audio and video traffic, eliminating annoying skips and hesitations.  'yes'!'' she said. On Monday's episode of ``The Ellen DeGeneres Show,'' she'll solicit viewer invitations to any event they are hosting in November - a wedding, a special birthday, an anniversary celebration, a bar mitzvah, whatever. DeGeneres and the show's producers will choose the most interesting or colorful of the parties for her to attend, cameras in tow, of course. Be creative. If you want this celebrity guest at your function, it'll take more than a store-bought cake and a few streamers Streamers is a play by David Rabe.

O'Reilly has swift response to Kerry's praise

After John Kerry pronounced himself a fan of Bill O'Reilly, the Fox News Channel host is hoping that will translate into a pre-election interview. ``I like Bill O'Reilly,'' the Democratic presidential candidate told TV Guide. ``I think he does a terrific job. I think he's got a very good show.'' Kerry said he'd ``love to'' appear on ``The O'Reilly Factor'' and would ask his schedulers about it. O'Reilly, who interviewed President Bush for telecasts last week on the top-rated cable news program, told the Associated Press he'd been trying for about two months to book Kerry. (Kerry said he was unaware of any invitation.)

``This would be a huge event for John Kerry, huge,'' O'Reilly said Thursday. ``What other media forum would attract as much attention from him? Is there one?'' Guests usually at odds with O'Reilly's audience - such as Rosie O'Donnell and Michael Moore - have come on ``The O'Reilly Factor'' and not complained about their treatment, he said. ``I think Kerry's an honest guy,'' O'Reilly said. ``You ask him a question and he tells you what he thinks. He's not a weasel weasel, name for certain small, lithe, carnivorous mammals of the family Mustelidae (weasel family). Members of this family are generally characterized by long bodies and necks, short legs, small rounded ears, and medium to long tails. .'' Kerry told TV Guide that Fox News Channel has been fair to him. ``I think during (the Swift Boat controversy) everybody got a little carried away,'' he said. ``I can take my lumps. You just go out and keep on fighting and let the chips fall where they may.''

A pink ribbon for Melissa

Singer Melissa Etheridge has been diagnosed with breast cancer and has canceled upcoming tour dates to undergo treatment, her publicist said Thursday. Etheridge, 43, will undergo surgery, and a ``speedy and complete recovery'' is expected by her doctor, publicist Marcel Pariseau said in a statement. The cancer was detected early and Etheridge has been receiving treatment, Pariseau said. ``I am fortunate to be under a wonderful doctor's care and thankful that this was caught early,'' Etheridge said in the statement. ``I am looking forward to a quick and full recovery.'' Etheridge and actress Tammy Lynn Michaels Tammy Lynn Michaels (born Tammy Lynn Doring November 26, 1974, in Lafayette, Indiana), also known by the surname Etheridge after exchanging vows with Melissa Etheridge,[1] is an American actress.  held a commitment ceremony in September 2003. Howard's beginning

Oscar-winning director Ron Howard may need to share his mantle space with daughter Bryce Dallas Howard. Bryce was named Friday as the recipient of the Rising Star Award at the 16th annual Palm Springs Film Festival running Jan. 6-17. Festival chairman Earl Greenburg said Bryce's feature debut in ``The Village'' made her selection for the honor ``an obvious and easy decision.''
