THE BUZZ: DUVALL, TRAVOLTA TOGETHER TO TAKE ON LAWYERLY ROLES.


Robert Duvall will reteam with John Travolta, with whom he starred in last year's hit film ``Phenomenon.'' Sources confirmed that Duvall has signed to play opposite Travolta in ``A Civil Action.'' Duvall will play the antagonist, an attorney who defends two corporate giants for toxic chemical Any chemical which, through its chemical action on life processes, can cause death, temporary incapacitation, or permanent harm to humans or animals. Fishburne eyes `Matrix' future: Laurence Fishburne is in final negotiations to star with Keanu Reeves in the sci-fi action-thriller ``Matrix.'' Shooting begins in Australia in January. The project is about a man (Reeves) who is tricked by computers into believing he is living in the 1990s but is, in fact, enslaved Enslaved may refer to:

CBS (Cell Broadcast Service) See cell broadcast.  TV pilot puts Hall back in action: CBS has given a pilot commitment to a one-hour buddy action-drama-comedy series to star Arsenio Hall, sources reported Thursday. The project is in the works for the 1998-99 TV season. Sources described the project as ``48 Hours'' meets ``Midnight Run.'' Hall's cohort in the show will be played by George Eads (``Savannah''), the sources said.

Stern laughs at `Bad Things': Daniel Stern has joined Cameron Diaz and Christian Slater in the cast of the dark comedy ``Very Bad Things.'' The film begins shooting Sept. 29. Stern will play a lawyer attending his friend's bachelor party. An unforgettable fete ensues wherein the stripper Stripper
