Central Presbyterian Church Located on the northeast corner of Brazos and Bois d'Arc (now Eighth Street), Central Presbyterian Church in Austin Texas traces its roots to the organization of the first Presbyterian church in Austin on Sunday, October 13, 1839. That event, conducted by Rev.  - A potluck brunch and Advent workshop will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday, following a single worship service at 10 a.m., at the church at 555 E. 15th Ave. People of all ages will make Advent and Christmas decorations and cards, and sing and hear carols. For those interested, a caroling group will visit several local care centers and nursing homes after the workshop. Also, a "Holden Evening Prayer" contemporarily sung vespers vespers (vĕs`pərz) [Lat.,=evening], in the Christian Church, principal evening office. In the Roman rite, vespers have consisted since the 6th cent. of a few prayers, five psalms, a lesson, the Magnificat, and an antiphon.  worship service will be held at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday. Grace Lutheran Church - An "Adventfest" with Christmas crafts, caroling and soup supper will be held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at the church, East 18th Avenue and Hilyard Street. Free-will offering. Information: 342-4844.

St. George Greek Orthodox Church Greek Orthodox Church

Independent Eastern Orthodox church of Greece. The term is sometimes used erroneously for Eastern Orthodoxy in general. It remained under the patriarch of Constantinople until 1833, when it became independent.
 - An open house will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the church, 202 Hillview No. 1. Tour, brief presentation and question-and-answer, refreshments.  Catholic Church Oregon Chautauqua Chau`tau´qua

1. a meeting, usually held in the summer outdoors or under a temporary tent, providing public lectures combined with entertainment such as concerts and plays. It originated in the village of Chautauqua, N. Y.
 - Ann Nicgorski, liberal arts college Liberal arts colleges are primarily colleges with an emphasis upon undergraduate study in the liberal arts. Peace Presbyterian Church - Acoustic guitar lessons will be offered at the church, 3060 River Road, beginning Tuesday. A half-hour class for youngsters begins at 4:30 p.m., and a new class for beginning adults and high school students begins at 6:45 p.m. Students must provide own guitar. Cost is $20 for music books. American Baptist Women - The group will have a Christmas luncheon at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Valley River Baptist Church, 1145 Willagillespie Road. Program on history of Christmas carols.
