Unity of the Valley Church - "Effective Mental Processes That Fulfill Life" is the name of a workshop from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. today at the church, 3912 Dillard Road. Edgar Peara will teach life-improving skills to benefit the participants' lives. Admission is free. 684-8285.

Datta Satsang Satsang (Sanskrit sat = true, sanga = company) describes in Indian philosophy (1) the company of the "highest truth," (2) the company of a guru, and (3) company with an assembly of persons who listen to, talk about, and assimilate the truth.  Group - A free multimedia presentation on "The Life of a Mystic and Music for Meditation and Healing" will be at 7:30 p.m. today at The Spirit Moves, 1840 Willamette St. The 90-minute presentation will provide the opportunity to hear the music of Sri Ganapati Sachchidananda Swamiji and to learn about his beginnings and his methods. 337-6056.

Kehillah Sar Shalom - High Holy Days services will continue today with a Shabbat service at noon, with Shabbat school for children ages 2 to 12, at the Crossfire A multi-GPU interface from ATI for connecting two ATI display adapters together for faster graphics rendering on one monitor. New Life Church - Frank Butler Revival meetings will be Sunday through Tuesday at the church, 2080 19th St., Springfield. Butler was a founding member of Hillsong City Church in Sydney, Australia, and now evangelizes through music and teaching. Services will be at 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, and at 6:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. 746-1291.

Sonrise Christian Church - "Tears In a Bottle" will be the topic at the 10:45 a.m. Sunday worship service at the church, 1300 Irvington Drive. Lloyd Whitford, a former minister at the church, will deliver the sermon. 689-0851.

Prayer sung in Jewish synagogues at the start of services on the eve of Yom Kippur. The prayer begins with an expression of repentance for all unfulfilled vows, oaths, and promises to God during the previous year.

Services on Sept. 22 include a Yom Kippur morning service at 9 a.m. at the temple, 2550 Portland St.; services for children ages 2 to 4 will be held at 9 a.m., for children ages 5 to 7 at 10 a.m. and for children ages 8 to 10 at 11 a.m. Yom Kippur afternoon services will begin at 5:30 p.m., and Neilah service, break fast, at 6:30 p.m. 485-7218.

Ahavas Torah - Yom Kippur services will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, followed by Kol Nidre, at the synagogue, 2800 Ferry St. Services on Sept. 22 will begin at 9 a.m., followed by Yizkor at 11 a.m. At 5 p.m. there will be Mincha and Neilah, and light refreshments to break the fast at 8:15 p.m. 344-6772.
