St. John the Wonderworker Orthodox Church - The nativity of Christ, divine services celebrating the Lord's birth, will be at 9 p.m. today at the church, 304 Blair Blvd. The compline will be followed by Matins and the Divine Liturgy. For more information, call 484-5810 or 341-4500.

Center for Sacred Sciences - "Mahatma Gandhi: Pilgrim of Peace," the story of the world's most famous peace activist with historical footage, will be shown at 11 a.m. Sunday at the center, 1571 Buck St. This free program includes a group discussion and a potluck brunch. Community of Christ Church - `Old Time Standards,' a family oriented concert by Rich Glauber and Tom Broeker, will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at the church, 1485 Gilham Road. Glauber is a professional musician who plays several instruments and sings, and Broeker sings with various community choirs. Refreshments will follow. Free-will offering. Unity of the Valley Church - There will be a Taize service for healing and wholeness from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the church, 39th Avenue and Hilyard Street. From the tradition of the Taize spiritual community in France, the heart of this service is the singing and music uniting people in common prayer. Free-will offering. Seventh-day Adventist Church - "Your Experiment in Better Living," a free health seminar of eight two-hour sessions will be held at 7 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays, beginning this week and running through Feb. 1 at the Fellowship Hall behind the church at 12th and Olympic streets in Springfield. Jim McHan, M.D. MPH, and Blaine and Lisa Fults will present information on living longer and feeling great, including how to cook and eat healthy foods; losing weight; lowering cholesterol, blood sugar and pressure; boosting the immune system; smoking cessation; decreasing risk of heart attack, stroke, cancer, colds and flu; and coping with stress and depression. Priory Farm - Netti Garner will do a presentation at the January Institute of Noetic Science meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the EWEB Community Room, 500 E. Fourth Ave. The topic will be awakening consciousness through sound vibrations: an experiential evening relating this art and science through the ancient technology of chant. Spiritual Growth Center - The Power of Decision, a series of eight classes over eight consecutive weeks, will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. beginning Thursday and running through March 1. The series is also available on Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. running this week through March 2. All classes will be held at the center, 390 Vernal St. Based on the book by the same name, authored by Dr. Barker, this new course is designed for people who want to bring clarity, control and positive action into their lives. Class lessons are packed with activities, enabling students to internalize the concepts easily, enabling each participant to make independent decisions. There are no prerequisites for this class, and lessons and exercises are designed for all levels of experience. For more information or to register, call 485-0035.

Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Center - Living our Dying, Tibetan Buddhist Teaching, a free introductory class taught by Lamas Pema Clark and Yeshe Clarke, resident teachers of the Kagyu Sukha Choling Center in Ashland, will be from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Radiant Life Center, 474 Willamette St., Suite 302, Eugene.
