THE BON-TON STORES ANNOUNCES JUNE SALES YORK, Pa., July 9 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bon-Ton Stores, Inc.
(NASDAQ: BONT), announced today that total sales for the four weeks ended July 4, 1992 increased 10.4 percent to $25.9 million from the $23.4 million reported for the same period last year. Comparable store sales increased 0.3 percent.
The year-to-date sales for the 22 weeks ended July 4, 1992 rose 8.4 percent to $115.3 million from $106.4 million in the year ago period. Comparable stores sales were flat with the same period last year. Michael Gleim, The Bon-Ton's senior executive vice president and chief administrative officer, commented, "Sales of our summer merchandise continue to be impacted by the unusually cool weather. Nonetheless, we remain committed to bringing inventories into line in time for our fall selling season." The Bon-Ton now operates 34 department stores in secondary markets in Pennsylvania, Maryland, New York, and West Virginia.
