THE BANK OF NEW YORK (DELAWARE) INTRODUCES A FAMILY OF CONSUMERS EDGE CREDIT CARDS DESIGNED TO SAVE MONEY

NEWARK, Del., March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- The Bank of New York (Delaware) today announced the introduction of a new family of nationally available Consumers Edge credit cards which are designed to save consumers money now, without rebates or coupons.
In addition to the Bank's Consumers Edge classic credit card, with an 11.9 percent annual percentage rate (A.P.R.) for merchandise and 13.9 percent A.P.R. for cash advances, individuals now have the option of a Consumers Edge25 and a Consumers Edge Gold Card. These cards all come with no annual fee and offer an average A.P.R. much lower than other nationally available credit cards.
"We have a new family of credit cards that save our customers money today. No other credit card company provides the variety of low-cost cards we offer across the country," said Robert H. Burke, chairman of The Bank of New York (Delaware). "By switching to any one of the Consumers Edge credit cards, consumers can save hundreds or potentially thousands of dollars in interest charges every year."
The Consumers Edge25 is the ideal card for those individuals who want the flexibility of a 25-day grace period. If Consumers Edge25 cardholders do revolve their balances, however, they still benefit from the low 14.9 percent A.P.R. for merchandise and 16.9 percent for cash advances, which saves money, month after month, compared to other high- rate credit cards.
Consumers Edge Visa Gold or Gold MasterCard is perfect for the customer who is after one of the lowest annual percentage rates nationally available, at 12.9 percent for merchandise and 14.9 percent for cash advances, with no annual fee, yet still seeks the higher credit line and the 25-day grace period. Another attraction of the Gold Card is an additional variety of services. These benefits include: extended warranties, purchase assurance against stolen or damaged property, travel assistance, and certain medical and legal aid.
The Bank of New York (Delaware) announced that applications for the new Consumers Edge credit cards are now available in all Bank of New York branches, and telephone requests for applications are now being accepted. Consumers can begin their savings by calling 1-800-235-EDGE. Operating hours for the toll-free 800 number are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m., and Saturday, 8 a.m. - 1 p.m., Eastern time.
"Our expanded selection of Consumers Edge credit cards emphasizes our commitment to keeping finance charges down," Mr. Burke continued. "By offering a low-rate card with no annual fee for the customer who keeps a balance, a low-rate card with a 25-day grace period for added payment flexibility, and a low-rate Gold Card with a higher credit line and added features, there really is a Consumers Edge card for almost everyone. No matter which credit card features are important to you, Consumers Edge has a credit card that fits your needs."
The Bank of New York (Delaware) is a subsidiary of The Bank of New York Company, Inc. (NYSE: BK). The company's principal subsidiary, The Bank of New York, was founded in 1784 by Alexander Hamilton and is the oldest bank in the country operating under its original name.
