THANKSGIVING GAS PRICE INCREASES A NICKEL FROM '93, AAA REPORTS

 ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Motorists will pay nearly a nickel per gallon more to drive this Thanksgiving than they did in 1993, the American Automobile Association reports.
 AAA's Fuel Gauge Report shows the nationwide average price of self- service regular unleaded gasoline rose 4.9 cents to $1.165 per gallon. The price is up .8 cent from last month.
 Self-serve mid-grade unleaded rose 4.6 cents from last Thanksgiving to $1.261 per gallon. Self-serve premium unleaded was up 3.6 cents to $1.341.
 Regionally, prices were highest in the West, up 4.8 cents to $1.282 per gallon, and lowest in the Southeast, up 5.9 cents to $1.112. Other prices were: Mid-Atlantic, up 6.7 cents to $1.179; New England, up 4.5 cents to $1.177; Southwest, up 5.5 cents to $1.149; Great Lakes, up 5.8 cents to $1.133; Midwest, up 1.5 cents to $1.125 per gallon.
 This Thanksgiving holiday's full-serve prices were higher for all grades. Regular unleaded rose 2.4 cents to $1.416 per gallon. Midgrade was up 2.5 cents to $1.512. Premium was up 1.9 cents to $1.569.
 Nationally, nearly 64 percent of the stations surveyed will be open during the holiday and 34 percent will operate 24 hours, AAA said.
 The AAA Fuel Gauge survey was conducted by Computer Petroleum Corp. of St. Paul, Minn., which publishes the National Petroleum Price Index that monitors more than 90,000 daily wholesale and retail prices in the United States and Canada.
 AAA is a not-for-profit federation of 125 motor clubs with more than 1,000 offices providing more than 36 million members in the U.S. and Canada with travel, insurance, financial and auto-related services.
