As the executive director of the pantry, she coordinates the efforts of several service organizations, companies and generous residents eager to help provide a holiday meal for her clients. ``Rotary donates 200 turkeys for our families and a local individual donated 100 small, 7- or 8-pound turkeys for our seniors,'' Crawford said. ``We also get donations from Valencia Water and other groups who want to help. We're thrilled that the majority of our 700 families will receive a turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner.'' Nick Lentini, who has been coordinating the Rotary turkey donations for six years, said club members reach into their own pockets to pay for the birds. ``It's just a great feeling to be able to provide a family with dinner that might have to go without,'' he said. ``People shouldn't have to struggle at the holidays. It's nice for us to be able to give back to the community.'' Several service clubs and organizations conduct nonperishable-food drives for the holidays, which Crawford says gets them through the beginning of the year. ``About 3 1/2 weeks ago, our shelves were almost bare,'' Crawford said. ``Now we're getting close to full. This food will have to last us until the letter carriers' drive in May. It would help if there were some food drives in the spring.''
