DeepShelf is a regional, evergreen structural interpretation of the entire Louisiana shelf. The interpretation project, completed by Subsurface Consultants Inc., features horizons ranging in age from Lower Pliocene to Oligocene mapped regionally across Eugene Island through the Grand Isle OCS OCS - Object Compatibility Standard regions. These maps are now available for license to the industry. The western half of DeepShelf is in progress and is expected to be completed by June 2004. The primary goal of DeepShelf is to aid explorationists in understanding the geology of the Deep Gas Play. The project utilizes long offset seismic data from TGSN's recently completed Phase 50 seismic grid along with hundreds of deep wells and paleo information to create a series of deep regional structure maps. The maps are based on sequence boundaries and include interpretations of top/base of salt and faults. Isochron maps are also being created between horizons to show locations of depocenters and fairways within stratigraphic intervals. According to John Adamick, VP of Business Development, "The DeepShelf Interpretation is unique in that it is specifically designed to be updated each quarter based on new well information. Clients will continue to benefit from DeepShelf for a long time." In addition to the regional benefits of DeepShelf, twenty-five analog field studies are included in the initial project. Supplemental studies will be included in future updates, creating a valuable catalog of what deep gas fields look like across the Louisiana shelf.
