TEXAS EASTERN TRANSMISSION CORPORATION PLANS CONNECTION TO EDDYSTONE ELECTRIC STATION

HOUSTON, Aug. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation recently filed a request with the Federal Energy g?ulatory Commission to install a new delivery point in Delaware County, Pa., to deliver natural gas to Philadelphia Electric Company's Eddystone electric generating station.
Texas Eastern plans to transport up to 80 million cubic feet per day of natural gas, primarily through existing facilities, for use at Eddystone beginning in early 1994.
Philadelphia Electric will convert two oil-fired Eddystone generating units to dual-fuel capability to enable cofiring of natural gas and oil. The project is expected to provide customer savings through lower fuel costs and improve air quality through reduced SO2 and NOx emissions.
"The delivery of natural gas to Eddystone is further evidence of Texas Eastern's commitment to increasing natural gas use in the rapidly expanding electric generation market," said George Mazanec, president.
Texas Eastern Transmission Corporation is a subsidiary of Panhandle Eastern Corporation (NYSE: PEL), America's natural gas transportation company, which operates one of the nation's largest interstate natural gas pipeline systems, providing natural gas transportation and related services to the Midwest and Northeast markets.
