TEVA PHARMACEUTICALS USA AND HEALTH MANAGEMENT, INC. TO OFFER INSURANCE GUIDANCE TO MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS PATIENTS IN COPOLYMER 1 TREATMENT IND.

KULPSVILLE, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--January 18, 1995--TEVA Pharmaceuticals USA, a subsidiary of TEVA Pharmaceutical Industries, Ltd., (NASDAQ/NNM:TEVIY) announced today that through Pharmaceutical Marketing Alliance (PMA), a subsidiary of Health Management, Inc. of Ronkonkoma, New York (NASDAQ/NNM:HMIS) TEVA will offer insurance guidance and information to patients enrolled in a Treatment Investigational New Drug Program (T-IND) now under way to evaluate its investigational drug copolymer 1 in relapsing remitting (RR) multiple sclerosis.

Under the agreement, PMA will provide reimbursement counseling, insurance investigation and verification services for any of the 2,000 total patients who may be accepted and enrolled in the trial. To date, more than 200 patients have enrolled. The financial terms of the agreement have not been disclosed.

The T-IND, an open-label program, adheres to the high standards required by the Food and Drug Administration for clinical trials.

Copolymer 1, a copolymer made up of four amino acids, was developed by TEVA in Israel and the U.S. and is based on drug-discovery efforts conducted at the Weizmann Institute in Israel. On clearance from the FDA, TEVA plans to market copolymer 1 under the brand name COPAXONE\.
