TESH TO PLAY SHERIFF'S BENEFIT.

Composer and pianist John Tesh John Frank Tesh (born July 9, 1952) is an American pianist and composer of new age and contemporary Christian music. He is also a nationally syndicated radio host, and has previously served as a sportscaster, news anchor and reporter.  will bring his eclectic music to the Antelope Valley This article is about the Los Angeles County region. A four-time Emmy winner, Tesh will be the headline entertainment at the Palmdale Sheriff's Boosters Fundraising Concert at 8 p.m. July 11 at Marie Kerr Park, 30th Street West and Avenue P.

``We basically try and fill the night with surprises. We do everything from classical stuff to a little bit of rock and roll and jazz,'' Tesh said in an interview Tuesday. ``There is everything from a little bit of Mozart to stuff from `Live at Red Rocks.' ''

Tesh said he looks forward to performing in the west Palmdale park.

``The outdoor thing is always great because it's such a nice atmosphere under the stars,'' said Tesh. ``We actually like to play outdoors because the sound is better outdoors.''

Blending his education in classical music with his love for jazz and rock, Tesh says his music is influenced by his family, the environment and experiences he's had abroad.

``There are songs about commitment, about kids. We get a pretty big family audience for the things we do,'' said Tesh.

In the early 1980s, CBS hired Tesh as a sports commentator. In 1989, Tesh joined NBC Sports and has been a commentator for Wimbledon tennis, cycling, 1992 Olympics gymnastics and cycling, and the 1996 Olympics gymnastics competition.
