TERYL ACQUIRES POTENTIAL DIAMOND-PRODUCING PROPERTY IN WEST AFRICA

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Dec. 29 /PRNewswire/ -- Teryl Resources Corp. (Vancouver: TRC) wishes to announce that an option has been successfully negotiated to acquire a 50-percent interest in the Jowak Concession in Ghana, West Africa. This Placer Diamond Concession covers 30 square miles (approximately 12,000 acres) in Akwatia, the eastern region of Ghana on the famous Birim River that produces 98 percent of Ghana's diamonds. The concession is easily accessible by road and is approximately two hours northwest of the capital of Accra. Teryl can earn a 50-percent interest by putting this prospect into production.
The Jowak concession has both diamond and gold reserves. Sam Sapper, D.I.C., M.Sc., C.P.G.S. stated in his feasibility study dated May 1990 that the potential reserves on the Jowak concession can be valued at $277.20 million U.S., plus 12 percent of this value in gold. The average value per carat in Ghana paid in 1990 is estimated at $42 per carat.
Sam Sapper, a principal in the private company which holds the other 50-percent interest, has extensive working experience in Ghana. Mr. Sapper was primarily responsible for the discovery, development and World Bank financing of five large gold/diamond placer mines now operating in Ghana. Mr. Sapper is the former vice-president for Phoenix Geophysics Inc., for the Middle East and Africa, and the former Senior Geophysicist-Geologist for Falconbridge Nickel Mines, Canada.
An initial program of $150,000 U.S. is recommended in order to assess the concessions ore reserve potential, infrastructure, logistics and to establish a long-term development strategy.
This agreement is subject to a formal agreement being completed by both parties and approved by the board of directors.
