TERADYNE AWARDED EXCLUSIVE LINE-TEST CONTRACT BY DEUTSCHE BUNDESPOST TELEKOM

 BOSTON, Aug. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Teradyne, Inc. (NYSE: TER) announced that it has been awarded an exclusive contract to supply telephone-line test equipment to the Deutsche Bundespost Telekom. Under the terms of the contract, Teradyne's 4TEL Line Test systems will be installed throughout Germany to serve that country's telephone system, comprising about 35 million lines. At current exchange rates, the contract is valued at about $63 million.
 Two German companies, Oskar Vierling GmbH & Co., KG and DeTeWe (Deutsche Telephonwerke und Kabelindustrie AG) & Co., associated with Teradyne in the project, will supply certain system elements and services. Full implementation of the project is expected to take about three and one-half years.
 Teradyne is a major manufacturer of automatic test equipment for the electronics and telecommunications industries, with sales of over $500 million. Its stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange (Symbol: TER).
