 TEPPCO NAMES WILLIAM THACKER PRESIDENT AND CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
 HOUSTON, July 28 /PRNewswire/ -- William L. Thacker, Jr., 47, has been named president and chief operating officer of Texas Eastern Products Pipeline Company (TEPPCO), and has been elected a director, effective Sept. 1.
 Clifford W. Rackley, who has been chairman, president and chief executive officer, will continue to serve as chairman and chief executive officer.
 Thacker has spent his career at Unocal Corporation in a variety of positions. Before joining TEPPCO, he had been president of Unocal Pipeline Company and general manager of pipelines for Unocal Corporation in Los Angeles since 1986. He joined Unocal's pipeline group as president of Pure Transportation Company in 1981 after serving in a number of assignments in Unocal's refining operations since joining the company in 1967. Thacker also has been a director of Unocal Pipeline Company, Cook Inlet Pipeline Company, Wolverine Pipeline Company and a member of the owner's committee of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System.
 He serves as a chairman of the executive committee of the Association of Oil Pipelines and is a member of the pipeline transportation committee of the American Petroleum Institute and the hazardous liquid pipeline safety standards committee for the Department of Transportation.
 Thacker received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from The Georgia Institute of Technology in 1967 and his master's degree in business administration from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, in 1973. He also graduated from the executive development program at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University.
 TEPPCO, a subsidiary of Panhandle Eastern Corporation, is the general partner of TEPPCO Partners, L.P., a publicly owned master limited partnership that owns and operates one of the largest common carrier pipelines of petroleum products in the United States.
 Panhandle Eastern Corporation operates one of the nation's largest interstate natural gas pipeline systems that provides natural gas to the Midwest and Northeast markets.
