TENNIS PLAYOFFS: LOYOLA SERVES AN UPSET VICTORY.

The Calabasas boys' tennis team, ranked No. 2 by the Daily News, was well aware of what was at stake in Tuesday's Southern Section playoff game Noun 1. playoff game - one game in the series of games constituting a playoff
game - a single play of a sport or other contest; "the game lasted two hours"

playoff - any final competition to determine a championship
 - a chance to advance to the Div. II quarterfinals.

And with one of the top singles lineups in the area, the Coyotes were well prepared for their match with Loyola of Los Angeles Los Angeles (lôs ăn`jələs, lŏs, ăn`jəlēz'), city (1990 pop. 3,485,398), seat of Los Angeles co., S Calif.; inc. 1850. , the No. 2 team from the Mission League. But the Coyotes were upset 10-8 by host Loyola, earning just one point out of a possible six on the doubles courts.

``It was unfortunate and unexpected,'' Calabasas coach Mark Bahrman said.

No. 1 singles player Gary Sacks and No. 2 Allen Lee swept all three of their respective sets. But the Coyotes managed little else, and Kallan Aftergood and Jake Smith were the only doubles team to earn a point for Calabasas (15-3).

 as a sign of unity at the Studio Golf and Tennis Center, the site of its second-round Div. I match, but little else changed for Harvard-Westlake (22-2) as it continued to march through its postseason opposition, this time over Westlake (14-5).

Harvard-Westlake's Jon Greenberg trailed 4-1 against Westlake's No. 1, Ben Steensland, but came back to win 6-4.

``Obviously we were underdogs today,'' Westlake coach Greg Coull said.

Westlake's No. 3 singles player, Zach White, a freshman, fought back from a 5-1 deficit to defeat Andrew Segal 7-5 and will be a key player next year. The Warriors will return all three of their singles players, including Steensland, just a sophomore.

Harvard-Westlake will play Los Alamitos Los Alamitos (lôs ăləmē`təs, lŏs), city (1990 pop. 11,676), Orange co., NE of Long Beach, S Calif., in a suburban area; inc. 1960. Los Alamitos Racetrack and U.S. military installations are nearby.  on Tuesday - a coin toss will determine whether the Wolverines play at home or away.

 4: Geoffrey Chizever continued his dominant play, winning 6-0, 6-0, 6-0 in his respective matches to extend his winning streak Noun 1. winning streak - a streak of wins

 to 56 consecutive matches for Viewpoint of Calabasas (17-1) in the Div. V victory on the road.

Viewpoint's No. 2 singles player, Tyler Mullen, also won in straight sets, and Arjun Kolachalam took two of three sets at No. 3 for Viewpoint, which advanced to Tuesday's quarterfinals for the first time in school history.

The loss was Saddleback of Santa Ana's first of the season.

--Arcadia 17, La Canada 1: In a Div A DIV Associate of Divinity . II match, host La Canada had no answer for No. 1 singles player Mark Contreras, who swept his respective matches 6-0, 6-1, 6-0 as Arcadia extended its winning streak to 20 matches without a loss.

--Crescenta Valley 13, Atascadero 5: Stanley Sarapanich swept No. 1 singles 6-3, 6-0, 6-3, and Ryan Chang and Eric Ueo swept No. 1 doubles 6-0, 6-3, 7-5 for host Crescenta Valley The Crescenta Valley is a small inland valley in Los Angeles County, California. Its name derives from its crescent-like shape, with the convex portion facing roughly northeast and the concave portion southwest.  of La Crescenta (16-2) in a Div. II victory.
