TENNIS NOTEBOOK: PATINO LEARNS ON COURT VALENCIA TEEN FINDING SUCCESS IN USTA TOURNAMENTS.

J.J Patino of Valencia has turned the summer into his own personal tutorial An instructional book or program that takes the user through a prescribed sequence of steps in order to learn a product. Contrast with documentation, which, although instructional, tends to group features and functions by category. See tutorials in this publication. . It's just that the lessons are taking place on the tennis court.

The incoming senior is playing in a host of USTA-sanctioned boys' 18 division tournaments, and so far the results have been encouraging.

``I'm really doing a lot more strategizing,'' Patino said. ``I go into each point with a plan: How am I going to beat this player with what shot?''

 tournament matches differ in structure from high school matches. Although a player gets three sets in high school, each is against a different opponent, and it's difficult to establish a rhythm. But USTA matches are best-of-three against the same opponent. During tournament play, a heady head·y

Patino has been climbing in the USTA rankings, and his goal is to crack the top 100 in the boys' 18 division.

``I've played in three tournaments (since moving to the 18s' division),'' Patino said. ``And my ranking went from the (worst) it could be to the low-200s.''

Patino played in the Jack Kramer John Albert Kramer (born August 1, 1921, in Las Vegas, Nevada) was a champion U.S. tennis player of the 1940s. A World No. 1 player for a number of years, he is a possible candidate for the title of the greatest tennis player of all time.  Memorial Tournament in Northridge this week and lost in the second round to the tournament's No. 1 seed. He'll play USTA events at least through the start of school year.

He's traveling with a group of players from the Oxnard area to a major tournament in Freemont over Labor Day Labor Day, holiday celebrated in the United States and Canada on the first Monday in September to honor the laborer. ``The competition in the Antelope Valley is good,'' Ghorbani said. ``But once you get down anywhere else there are a lot of great players out there, too.''

Ghorbani is looking forward to the Bulldogs' upcoming season. She's been busy recruiting a few of her friends to come out for the team.

``They played when they were younger and they're starting up again,'' Ghorbani said. ``I don't know Don't know (DK, DKed)
