They describe themselves as playing Progressive symphonic metal[1], although they are often tagged as a gothic metal band by reviewers and reference sources[2][3]. .

DeGreiff could not give a specific reason for the pair's nearly instant success.

``We just work well together,'' he said. ``We just got along with each other and worked better together than with other partners.''

The results are proof enough that they are a strong pairing.

They swept three sets in their first match together, March 17 against Burroughs of Burbank. Four days later, they swept against Campbell Hall Campbell Hall can refer to:

, the only Hart duo to do so.

Their season climaxed when they reached the final of the Foothill League doubles tournament.

The pair's success is no surprise to Hart coach Chris Mansfield.

He paired Cho and DeGreiff because of their complementary strengths. DeGreiff excels at his serve and forehand forehand

how quickly they came together and showed their maturity and determination to win,'' Mansfield said. ``It's chemistry, something that just happens.''

Advancing out of the sectional is difficult, and not only because of the high level of competition. Fatigue also plays a factor. The top seeds receive first-round byes, and other teams play up to three best-of-3 matches.

No Hart doubles team has advanced from the sectional since Dan Provenzano and Tony Pangan in 1990. Mansfield sees some comparisons between Cho and DeGreiff and that pairing.

Cho is quick, like Pangan. DeGreiff is less consistent than Provenzano, but he makes up for it with increased power, Mansfield said.

DeGreiff said the duo, after seeing the struggles star singles player Matthew Taoatao endured during last year's in the Southern Section individual tournament last year, would be happy just to win their opening match.

No matter the outcome, the postseason probably will be the team's last time together. DeGreiff said he wants to play singles next season.
